EATING JUNK FOOD MAKES IT HARDER TO CHOOSE HEALTHY FOOD
Eating a lot of junk food may make it harder to choose healthy food. Scientist Paul Johnson of the Scipps Research Institute and his team did a science experience where they took a lot of junk food, fed it to some rats to see what would happen. Their goal was to try to understand how parts of the brain play a role in obesity. What they observed was that the more junk food the rats ate, the more the rats wanted to eat. They compared this to the rats being addicted to heroin. The scientists say that the brain chemistry ob obesity and drug addiction may be alike.
The scientists also found that after the rats were addicted to junk food, it was hard to reverse the effects. They took away the junk food and offered the rats a nutritious diet and the rats refused to eat.
What do you think? Are you addicted to junk food?

I think I am addicted to junk food because it is easy to obtain. It's hard getting up and preparing healthy food everyday when you are on the good. Plus junk food cost less and the contributes to the issue too. Maybe if they made healthy items cheaper, people would be encourage buy and eat it.

I stopped eating junk food when I went to nursing school. During my clinical, I saw so many patients laid in bed due to unhealthy lifestyles. Do you know that the regular consumption of junk food is the leading cause of obesity and excess weight? Obesity is second only to smoking as a cause of death in America. Another fact is that fast food also speeds up people’s risk of clogged arteries that can lead to heart attacks. There are so many risk factors to eating junk food. Type 2 diabetes, kidney stones, bone fracture and so much more. After seeing the conditions of these patients, I decided that it’s not worth it. I guess it's ok to eat in moderation, just don't overdo it to a point where you are risking your health.

Your article is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. It was amazing to find out that scientists actually found that the addiction to heroin is similar to the addiction to junk food! It makes a lot of sense that the more you eat junk food, the more you want to eat it and not eat healthy food. Junk food is easy to get and the fast way of eating something when you are on the run. I've learned to always carry a healthy snack in case I get hungry and opt out of eating junk food. It's relieving to find out that I'm doing the right thing and that I should continue to limit my junk food consumption.

I have changed my diet (to more vegetables) so that I can lose weight. I am trying to eat more healthy foods. But, I eat junk food too. Its hard to stop eating it. Maybe I am addicted to junk food. It also think if you eat too much of anything (ice cream, cookies) it is bad for you.

I stopped eating from junk food years ago, I normally just make my own snacks nowadays. Time consuming yet healthier.
